Lyrics :

Do you remember the day that if you said that you were gay
It meant with joy that you could sing and shout
A fairy was enchanting and dressing up and camping
Was something you did with the scouts
That care free age when an urgent case of aids
Was powdered milk we sent to the Sahara
A fruit was something nice to eat a poof was something for your feet
And a queen was an old tart in a tiara

Chorus:
Ah look what we've done to the old mother tongue
It's a crime the way we've misused it
It's been totally tis woggled, crumb and blonged and golly woggled
And we've strangled, mangled frangled and abused it

Ah those far off times when a bong meant a chime
And a buzz was a noise insecticidal
And joint was something between bones and getting really stoned
Only happened to bad people in the Bible
When if you had a bad trip it meant you fell and broke your hip
Cold turkey just meant Christmas at Aunt Dottie's
Coke was something that you burned; a smack was something that you earned
From your mumzie wumzie when you had been naughty

Chorus

The years have gone I'm afraid when only eggs got laid
And only the rhinoceros got horny
Only kangaroos jumped and only camels humped
Getting stuffed meant a little taxidermy
Swing was for trapezes and Tarzan's chimpanzees
Tossing off was something Scotland did with cabers
Now it means something quite obscene
And heavy ugly scene is any movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

Chorus
Chorus

Lyrics

When I was young man i carried my pack
And I  lived the free life of  a rover
From the  murrays green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my matilda all over
Then in nineteen fifteen my  country said Son
It's Time to stop rambling cause there's work to be done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we sailed away from the quay
And amidst all the tears and the shouts and the cheers
We sailed off to Gallipoli

How well I remember that terrible day
How the blood stained the sand and the water
And how in that hell that they called suvla bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny Turk he was ready , he rained us with shells
He chased us with bullets, he rained us with shells
And in five minutes flat he'd  blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back to Australia
But the band played Waltzing matilda
As we stopped to bury or slain
We buried our and the Turks buried  theirs
Then we started all over again

Now  those that were left, well we tried to survive
In a mad world of blood, death and fine
And for ten weary weeks I kept myself alive
But around me the corpses piled higher
Then a big turkish shell knocked me arse over tit
And when i woke up in my hospital bed
And saw what it had done, I wished i was dead
Never knew there were worse things than dying
For no more I'll go waltzing matilda
All around the green bush far and near
For to hump tent and pegs, a man needs two legs
No more waltzing Matilda for me

So they collected the cripples, the wounded, the maimed
And they shipped us back home to Australia
The armless, the legless, the blind, the insane
Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla
And as our ship Pulled into Circular Quay
I looked at the place where my legs used to be
And thank Christ there was nobody waiting for me
To grieve and to mourn and to pity
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As they carried us down the ganway
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared
Then turned all their faces away

And now every april I sit on my porch
And i Watch the parade pass before me
And I watch my old comrades, how proudly they march
Reliving old dreams of past glory
And the old men march slowly, all bent, stiff and sore
The forgotten heroes form a forgotten war
And the young people ask ' What are they marching for?'
And I ask my self the same question
And the band plays Waltzing Matilda
And the old men answer to the call
But year after year their numbers get fewer
Some day no one will march there al all

Waltzing matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who will come a waltzing matilda with me
And their ghosts may be heard as you pass the Billabong
Who will come a waltzing matilda with me ?

Lyrics

They sailed from port one morning the weather it was fair
A gentle breeze it pushed them and no one gave a care
They sang and danced and laughed that night and opened up a keg
They're out to catch the monster whale that took the captain's leg

The Captain said, "A piece of gold for him who sees me whale
So bend your backs and row me boys I know that we won't fail!"

So bend your backs and row me lads and take me to me whale
Tonight we'll sing and dance and tomorrow night we'll sail
We'll sail into the harbour no prouder man there'll be
We'll show them all we captured the monster from the sea

They spied the whale one morning the weather it was fair
The men were white as ghosts, the Captain didn't care
"I'll take this whale meself" he cried "the weak can stay behind
The strong can share my glory and tonight they'll share my wine"

The whale it came so close it was bigger than the sky
They lowered down the longboat and they heard the captain cry

Bend your backs and row me lads and take me to me whale...

The whale it came so close it almost tipped the boat
The captain took his harpoon and rammed it down it's throat
The whale it gave a mournful cry and lifted it's great tail
And brought it down a crashing on their small boat like a gale

Now 100 years have passed since the Captain and his men
Went down to spend eternity in Davy Jones' den
The whale it goes on living but inside it bears a scar
And if you're ever near that place a voice calls from afar...

Lyrics :

Would you walk to the edge of the ocean
Just to fill my jar with sand just in case I get the notion
To let it run through my hand, let it run through my hand

Well I don't want the whole world
The sun, the moon, and all their light
I just want to be the only girl You love all your life,
You love all your life

Would you catch a couple thousand fireflies
Put 'em in a lamp to light my world, yeah
all dressed up in a tux and bow tie, hand delivered to a lonely girl
To a lonely, lonely girl

I don't want the whole world
The sun, the moon, and all their light
I just want to be the only girl, You love all your life
You love all your life

Lately I've been writing desperate love songs
I mostly sing them to the wall,
You could be the centerpiece of my obsession
if you would notice me at all

I don't want the whole world
The sun, the moon, and all their light
I just want to be the only girl, You love all your life
You love all your life
You love all your life, life, yeah
